V8 Supercar driver Andrew Thompson, Byron Bay has made a mark on the V8 Supercar Fujitsu Series by forging breaks 154-points above second place. Thompson, who drove in the first division team is now dead Well Paul Supercar Racing in 2008, has struggled to find a permanent seat in the main series since but has given himself every opportunity to show impressive in the second layer. However, he will team with driver Jamie Whincup on top Supercar Team Vodafone to VE Commodore V8 Supercar endurance racing, which includes the prestigious Bathurst 1000 in October. He will also contest the Fujitsu Series round at Bathurst. Thompson asserted its leadership in the championship with victory in round four, more than three races, in Ipswich 300 at Queensland Raceway this weekend.
"I'm quite happy with the final race but obviously disappointed with the race two, because I did not progress in the race at all," he said. "We have a strong car and our qualificationsso fast but it's just unfortunately we did not quite get the right race or two races. "We finally cut something together to race three and walked away with winning the race overall and win the round, which I can not be happy with, but now it's time for me to focus on endurance races. " Incidentally, a former resident Caniaba David Russell finished second in the round and is now second in the series behind Thompson. Russell has also taken a seat durability, with Jack Daniel's Racing, a partner with top driver Todd Kelly.
Season moved to Phillip Island, Victoria, next month, before the Bathurst 1000. . .
